when i was simply on yahoo.messenger my computer has just turned off...and it wouldn't start...after a few minutes it wanted to start working...what's wrong with it ????

Overheating can be the cause. Make sure there is plenty of air flowing through your case.
Also - are there any programs running on your computer that could cause that? It's not very likely for this to happen because of a program, but it IS possible.
And check for the power plug in the outlet, make sure its not loose or anything. That's how I thought my Mobo was bad - I was hitting a power source with my foot!! :D

Was this only once or does this happen a couple of times? Coz if this happened once, it means that you must have pressed the Log Off or Restart by mistake. If this happens a couple of times, you have to check the computer with some technician or something coz if you don't check it now, it might prove disastrous later.
