Over the past year I have had a number of episodes where I have blacked out and woken up sometimes as long as 24 hours later in strange places with no recollection of what I had done.

On the worse incident, I was walking along near Leicster square in London one morning looking for a place to eat and that is the last thing I remembered before waking up in a car which did not belong to me outside Gatwick airport 22 hours later!!. I had blood on my knees and my pockets were full of stones.

I went home, had a long sleep and that was the end of it. I have even woken up in a different city on one occasion.

I must add that I do not drink or take drugs. This is just totally random and I have about 1 attack of this a month.

What is happening and should I seek help? I am not very well off so can't afford a psychiatrist. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Wow!? Um there's a few things I can think of which it could be. They're quite rare but hey, they have to affect some people.

There is a type of epilepsy, the attacks of which involve an absent state of mind where the person would act out of character (hence the stone collecting!?) but then has no recollection of the experience when they 'come round'. The overactivity of the brain during this 'attack' might make you tired afterwards.

The other, very unlikely, possibility is that it's some kind of Multiple Personality Disorder, though if it was that I would have thought there'd be more frequent attacks - and you'd probably be able to remember during one attack what happened during the last one.

Either way, it's really important you see a doc because sooner or later this could put you in a very dangerous situation which isn't worth risking. Your doc can refer you to someone who'll be able to give you more in-depth info, regardless of your income.

it particularly is society's fault! and how they're raised! we are a society who call for equivalent rights to do despite the hell we elect and featuring own a perilous weapon. So, with a disadvantaged indavejewal who can not examine using fact he grew to become into in the decrease back of the room showing his kinfolk jewels, blend that with a society that defends the rights of that indivejewal to do exactly as he pleases and has to have a degree in basic terms like everyone else including people who actually labored for it and then of direction the form says that he has each good to possess a perilous automatic killing device reason he's portion of the militia ain't he. this could be a mixed up place thank you

I used to work with a woman who had 'similar' experiences as yours, though hers were attributable to drink ...and she had the type of personality which got her through a lot of scrapes with an ease that baffled me (her ability to be so "indifferent" to all of the various possible outcomes).

If you are so 'indifferent' to your experiences - and you don't appear to be ''Troubled" by them, as your writing here indicates, then just carry on. BUT, if I were in your shoes, then my response to these experiences would be very different. I personally would be "troubled" and would want to seek help.

A few years ago, under the effects of various drugs while in hospital, I apparently behaved in ways which were totally abnormal for me. And the revelations from my family about this episode(s have had me squirming. I just don't like to think that there are parts of my life which are unavailable to me through memory ~ where I can not be accountable to myself for what I said or did.

It would be very wise to go and seek help for this.

I wish you the Best of luck.
Sash.

You should definately see a doctor or go to hospital and see if they can hook you up with agency resources to talk to a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist.
You will be evaluated at that time.
There is something going on with your brain if you black out with no drugs or alcohol.
Not know where you go or what you do is putting yourself in danger for your life.
Do not let lack of fund deter you from seeking help.

These black-outs are very serious and you need medical attention - is there some type of free clinic, perhaps, you could go to get some help? You really need to see a doctor. Good luck.

You may have multiple personality disorder. I watched a program on channel 5 when doing my a-levels in psychology about this and this lady just kept thinking she has blackouts but it was when she was in her other personality she felt this way. I'm not saying that you have it but it could be something to look into.

Assuming you're serious about this see a Doctor. It could be anything from Multiple Personalities to a brain tumor.

if you can rule out drugs and alcohol then you need to seek medical attention urgently! this could be bad especially waking up with blood on yourself you may be harming people (sleep walking or something like that)
and you never know you may not wake up one day or you may be attacked yourself
get help!!!!!!!!!!!
