Or should I say at least part black. here are a few descriptions of beethoven:

“His somewhat flat broad nose and rather wide mouth, his small piercing eyes and swarthy [dark] complexion, pockmarked into the bargain, gave him a strong resemblance to a mulatto.” C. Czerny stated, “His beard--he had not shaved for several days--made the lower part of his already brown face still darker.”

The following are one word descriptions of Beethoven from various writers: Grillparzer, “dark”; Bettina von Armin, “brown”; Schindler, “red and brown”; Rellstab, “brownish”; Gelinek, “short, dark.”

I would have to say that Beethoven is most definitely white being a German in the mid to late 1700s. There were very few, if any black people in Germany at this time. I believe there is also a portrait done of Beethoven that shows him as being white. Although it is possible that he could be black. As far as Cleopatra I have not done very much research on her but I believe that she was just Egyptian. Yes there were some black Egyptians but they were also part Nubian so they were not full Egyptians. Cleopatra was the daughter of the descendants of Ptolemy who was a Mesopotamian who was put on the throne by Alexander the Great. I would suggest some further research and perhaps seeing if you can contact a European specialist on the matter of Beethoven. Best of luck.

I am almost definate that he wasn't because a) at that time there were not many black people in germany because they werent part of anything except the slave trade. b)he was german, and germans are stereotypically in that period white and have blackish darkish hair and c) every picture portrays him as being a white man with either flowing gray or black hair. Also in that time there was a lot of racial discrimination around so people wouldnt have likened to a black or coloured man so much

No, he wasn't ethnically black in any meaningful sense, no more than any other Caucasian person. He was just dark-haired and swarthy.

Don't despair, however, as his contemporary Alexander Pushkin (1799-1827), generally recognised as the greatest of Russian poets, had a black great-grandfather.

The composer Beethoven was white German.
There is also a film Beethoven and that would be then a St. Bernhard Dog.

He was from Austria so he was white.
That days black men were used as slaves and they had no chance in education so he was white.
We can see him in draws as a white man so he was white.
Also it is said that he was blind but this proves nothing...
