It depends...

Coming out of undergraduate college or graduate school? Location? Type of job? A lot of IT people with a B.S. degree can make that immediately, but even a college professor with a Ph.D. usually doesn't start that high.

$50K is a lot of money for some areas, but it won't go very far in NYC.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. it is a really good salary, provided is parallel with an honest living. it could be possible as the most brilliant of students could be absorbed by large firms to provide a management turnaround in the case of actuarial scientists. however, this same thing could make these students arrogant and more complacent as they have jumped various steps on the leader to a 5 digit salary.

I think you are the luckiest person in the world. That is a wonderful salary, when I came out of college, I was making 25k. I think that is great, just remain focused and diligent. remember you are one of the few graduates out there coming out making that much. Do what you can to do great and climb that ladder.

u are ahead of the game my friend- i only make about 35K right out of college- it does depend on how much you have to work though- i only work a 40 hour week with paid vacation, sick days, beneftis, retirement etc.

so if you have good benefits too then you are doing great.

I think it would depend on what your major was.

depends on your major. if you majored in engineering that is about average. however if you majored in philosophy that's pretty damn good.
