Here is what is going on...
I took 3 HPTs at home on 3 different days, all of which came back positive. The first one was rather faint, but the rest were darker. I went to have a urine test at the DR's office, it came back negative. (mind you, this very morning I took one at home and it was positive) So, I was really confused and upset. The very same day, I went and got another test, totally different brand and it came back positive. (3 tests in one day) Is it possible that the DR's test is wrong? I could see having one positive and the rest negative, but 4 out of 5 were positive. I think after Thanksgiving I am going to go get blood work. Any thoughts?? Thanks all!

All pregnancy tests are different. The choices offered to you in a drug store are seemingly endless, and it is quite possible to get different answers from different tests. Not only do the tests vary in the level of HCG they consider "positive" but your body's HCG level in the urine will vary depending on the time of day and how long it has been since you last emptied your bladder.

First-morning urine is always best. More than likely, you went to the doctor's office and gave a sample with mid-day urine. If so, the concentration of HCG in your urine is considerably lower. That fact, coupled with the variation in the sensitivity of the test they use, could in fact give you a negative result even though you are pregnant.

I would highly suggest you get a blood test - especially if you aren't having your period yet. Blood tests are always the most accurate and detect the hormone at levels even home pregnancy tests can't.

Best of luck you in your situation!

It depends on the test. I took 3 all light but +, then after I had a + blood test took another home test -. So it depends on the time of day and how diluted your urine is. At some hospitals, they give free blood test to see if your pregnant, that is the most accurate answer.

The urine tests that the dr's office uses usually requires more hcg (pregnancy hormone). This means that for it to show on a dr's urine test, you have to be more pregnant. If you have had several that you took at home that showed positive, then congratulations... you are pregnant. If you want to learn more about all types of pregnancy tests go to www.peeonastick.com. I would get bloodwork done at the dr's office as well... but since the only thing that a pregnancy (urine) test looks for is hcg.. which is only produced in pregnancy... then you are pregnant!!

extremely frankly, the urine tests on the docs workplace is precisely the comparable mechanism as one you purchase in a drug shop. Theyre all only sticks that incorporate a pill of a definite chemical that reacts with hCG. the only specific fire thank you to nicely known is to pass get a blood tests which will hit upon greater tiers of hCG on your blood flow that are basically modern-day in the adventure that your preggers or taking fertility medicine. stable success!

Go to another doctor. They are human, therefore make errors. Otherwise there wouldn't be such a thing as malpractice insurance.
As for human error, even yours could be wrong, though 4 times? That's a little too many times to be wrong. I mean how bad could anyone screw up peeing on a stick...lol

The blood work would be a GREAT idea....I guess it is possible the Dr. test was wrong....Unlikely but possible....The blood test will be 99.9% accurate though and you will know for sure...
