I don't know, but I do know that the elephant is the only animal with four knees, i.e all their limbs bend forward.

They do not have kneecaps, that is why they put ditches around watering holes in some African countries - i.e. Namibia - to prevent elephants getting in and taking all the water, they cannot bend down and back up again, freaky eh?

they can jump! but can't be arsed when humans are around! it's an in joke between elephants! bit like when the cows stand on hind legs and talk politics

they are too heavy and would probably cause the ground to shake if they did, as well as create lots of holes and destruction around them, and crush whatever happens to be in the way when they come back down. however, they can stand on their hind legs and their trunk is strong and long enough to reach high places and grab things they need. in fact, its so strong they can break branches and small trees in half with it to pull things down for them to eat. so its really not necessary for them to jump at all. thank goodness!

Because of their weight? Well, I dunno! Because even though an elephant is heavy they sure don't move like it when they run! An elephant could easily outrun a human! I suppose it is because of their weight.

They usually pack their trunks to bursting point making it impossible to jump. They also have four knees!!!.
