So this woman hasn't paid her propane bill, so in order for them to deliver her more she had to pay her past due amount. She said to the owner(my husband) you are only doing this because I AM BLACK. So my husband told her she needed to come pay her bill and then find her gas elsewhere,Then he said that racial stuff doesn't work with me and I will have you know ma'am I am not white, I am asian!! The woman started backtracking then saying well thats not what I meant. So my question is, Why is this crap always applied when BLACKS don't get their way?

Sorry everyone didn't mean to generalize "blacks" still fuming from the whole thing. I would also like to add that this same woman has always been late to pay her bill, when we were going to put her on C.O.D. she begged us not to and said she would pay on time from then on and it never happend-so it was kinda like a slap in the face. We get it from all kinds but not the racial things. A White man threatened to kill my husband because we picked up his tank for rigging it in an unsafe way.(which could have gotten us into big trouble). Sorry about that like I said I was still fuming.

this crap is not ALWAYS applied when blacks don't get their way. it is a small population of people who have grown accustomed to using slavery and all the "oppression" as a means of getting special treatment instead being a hard working law abiding citizen. as a young black woman, I don't feel like i deserve to keep my gas on if i didnt pay the bill, or get out of a ticket because the cop might have only pulled me because i am black. i was probably speeding, so that's why he pulled me. so, the woman who decided that the ONLY reason your husband is trying to run his business professionally without being bullied by that BS is because someone somewhere let her get away with that ish and she is trying to milk it for all it is worth. my advice to her is "pay your damn bills and stop thinking that history is going to get you special treatment", and my advice to you and your husband is "please don't stereotype an entire race because a select few of us are waiting for their 40 acres and mule". have a great thanksgiving!!!

This "crap" is applied when any manipulative person is trying to get their way...this is a ploy that is used by EVERYONE...Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, Women...you try to throw the other person off balance by claiming that they're prejudiced against your particular group ("You're only doing this because I'm a lesbian, Eskimo, ice fisher woman!").

What was SUPPOSED to happen (in this wildly misguided woman's eyes anyway...) was that your husband in an effort to prove how UN-prejudiced he was would cave and deliver her more propane while either accepting a smaller payment or perhaps just "putting it on her tab".

This is something that has probably worked for her in the past, and is a last-ditch-Hail-Mary ploy for her. Some people will use their children ("I have an INFANT, and if you don't deliver the propane my child will FREEZE!"), some people will use sick relatives, some people will use race/sex or creed. So its not just applied to Blacks. Its applied when uneducated people realize that they're not going to get what they want.

BLACKS? Stop generalizing all black people I have never in my entire life accused anyone of that. SOME black people do use this excuse alot in hopes to get out of the predicament that they put themselves into. And why is it that every time I get on here there are dozens of questions aimed at black people making sweeping generalizations? Just because you have a bad experience with a black person does not mean that they are all the same. I have had bad experiences with damn near all of the races but I don't stereotype the entire race. When will people start realizing that it is the individual not the race.

OK first off I'm white. This is just my opinion, and mine alone. There are some people in the black community who give everyone else in the black community a bad name. It doesn't matter if you are black, white, yellow, purple, green, whatever, if you can't take care of your business, then you can't take care of your business. Also in some way people put this spin on the black community. Like they are out to trick you, or swindle you. To be honest, there are people like that everywhere, they don't have a color, a thief is a thief, in my opinion. I would say don't look at it from a black, white perspective, look at it from a business perspective, she is paying for a service, you are providing it, if she does not pay for it, then service will not be provided till payment is made. Dragging in race only makes an easy solution harder to deal with, and really doesn't prove your worth as a business.

The sad truth is that our society has coddled blacks for years because we feel guilty that our ancestors treated them badly. The truth is that the blacks use that to their advantage and it has gotten them the best welfare in the world. Nowhere else on this globe do more people get free food, housing, medical care than in the good old US of A.

The sad part of it is that those of us who pay taxes had nothing to do with any of it.

Another sad part is that we can not afford to send our children to college but the government puts them through college.

My son wanted to get into the Millwright union. He studied hard, took the test and got a 99% correct. So sad, too bad, the union had to take minorities. The people who took the test and got into the union instead of my son are people my husband works with. Guess what? He has triple the work to do and is in more danger because those who work with him now have no idea how to do the work!

It is maddening yet there is nothing we can do to change it.

Because some of them have learned that's the best way to get what they want, and because she had no defense for not paying the bill. She was mad at herself, and trying to put the blame on someone else. Your husband was right to tell her to take a hike-- she should be punished for that kind of behavior. She was hoping he would be so afraid of a discrimination lawsuit that he would give in to her. Good for him that he didn't!!! And by the way, it's not just blacks that do this.

Not all black people are like this, but the younger generation it seems is more prone to want the world handed to them on the platter (no matter what race) and for black youth, it is "because I am black" It makes me really sick to struggle as hard as we (my family) does to see that some folks think they can throw the race card down. Your husband did the RIGHT thing. Thank the two of you for not cowing down, but don't let this turn you against a whole race of people because of the actions of a few.

It's a convenient easy excuse. People just play the "race card" and think that that will intimidate others into fearing retribution or law suits for discrimination.

This happens with alot of segments of the population when people claim unfair treatment, even if the treatment is just, based on their minority status.

Some people will do anything to get ahead or away with things.

HEY, she is an advantagous woman. If she were white she would have said is this because I'm a woman. Some people need to be victims not just BLACK people.

Good for your husband for standing up to her and he didn't have to be Asian to be justified, she's a mooch.

LOL! Your question is comical. I've had Whites, Latinos, and Blacks pull that on me not knowing what I am. Honestly, what other time would it be applied? When one is getting his/her way, lol? I'm not taking your huband's side or the woman's, but you fail to mention what was said before she made this statement and in what kind of tone. Yes, this woman should have paid her bill or made payment arrangements. But for you to go ranting on here about "BLACKS" in general not getting their way is uncalled for and makes me question you as an individual.
