I am 19 years old. I was supposed to start my period yesterday and I didn't. I have always been regular, and had normal periods my whole life. There is a chance I could be pregnant. I took a test yetserday and it was negative. I dont know if I didnt wait long enough before taking it or what. The test says it cant detect pregnancy up to 4 days before a missed period. Since I took it the same day I was supposed to start, maybe I didn't wait long enough. Also, since this morning whenever I go to the restroom(#1 or 2)...my stomach where cramps would be is very sensative. Its not cramps, just an uncomfortable sensation like I am straining my muscles in my lower stomach. Could that be a sign of pregnancy?

The symptoms of premenstration and the very early stages of pregnancy are very similar. The only reliable way to know is a positive test. You can get a false negative in the early stages but they are very very sensitive these days. I know it's hard but try not to worry about it for a few days. If your period still hasn't arrived in a week take another test or go and see your doctor.

If you are pregnant, the embryo is smalled than the period at the end of this sentence. You would not be having pain. No, this is not a sign of pregnancy.

A lot of things can delay your period. Stress is a big one.

What you most likely feel is your uterus getting ready to slough off the lining. You will probably have your period in a day or so.

If you freak out over the possibilty of being pregnant, the stress will make the period come even later.

Next time, use reliable contraception.
