Hmmm...

I don't know that it has anything to do with you (or me, or whoever) getting older so much as it does with our materialistic society's attitude towards the holiday - spend, spend, spend to keep up with the Joneses, and who cares whether you can afford it.

I think it has lost its meaning but i don't know if its because when we become adults Christmas takes on a new meaning for us. I'm sure that to small children Christmas is still the best time of the year

It's not just you. I remember when I was younger, on Christmas Eve, I could not sleep. I was too excited to sleep, wondering what was in store for me the following morning. That was when I was a kid. Now I'm 22 and it's not the same anymore. I sleep all night and when I wake up the next day, I open some presents and then go back to bed. No big deal.

The meaning is still there - I think we all know that. Christmas is fun for children and that's great. As adults, the decorating, cooking, cleaning, shopping, parties, wrapping, visiting, etc., are all a little overwhelming sometimes, especially when you work 40 hours a week. And somehow we all manage to get through the holidays.

yes, I could not wait to wake up christmas morning and unwrap all the gifts under the tree. Now, as an adult, I try to instill in my children that christmas is about giving, and the birth of Jesus. They still have the presents, but it is byfar the amount that I got as a child.

Since I lost most of my family to the other side Christmas is really not the same, I know we are supposed to be celebrating Christ, but without family that you grew up with it is really not the same. So, no, it is not just you. I am sure alot of people feel this way.

Sorry if you feel that way. :( I know for alot of people it does seem to lose its meaning, but personally I'm enjoying it more and more as I get older. I look forward to spending time with my family, especially the ones that live so far away and I don't get to see very often. (My Goddaughter! :) ) We all have great conversations about world events, politics, sports, etc. Love it. :D

When I was younger, it was all about getting the gifts, and now ofcourse I get much more joy out of seeing someone open a gift from me. If I got nothing it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Definately, and people are getting into so much debt that their incomes will never pay for items charged. Instead of a middle class family saying to their children they will be getting what mom and dad can afford, m&d go into major debt. It's all so commercialized.

It did until I met my husband and his family. They are big on christmas. Certain traditions every year and spending time together, it's great. It brought it all back for me. They are the most awesome people, I love them all.

It's not just you. Christmas is obnoxiously over-commercialized now. Kids now think they are ENTITLED to presents and nothing less than what they ask for. It's disappointing. :0(
