Absolutely. The less time you throw money away on rent, the better. If buying a home seems like it won't be affordable, look into buying, and then having a couple roommates pay you rent. I bought my first place six years ago - wish I had done it ten years earlier.

It is good advice. Just make sure you can afford it. It doesn't just take a steady job to keep up a house. Live comfortable. Me and my boyfriend just moved in together. We had been hoping to buy a house... but it's not that cheap. So we decided to rent for a year or two. Rent is much more affordable and it currently allows us to save money. Once you have saved up some money, then go ahead... Being the first time you are buying make sure you inform yourself of all the programs and rates that are available and which will be the best for you.

yes and no. you should be looking in the market for homes that were repoed and are being auctioned. otherwise, i'd say wait a bit longer and start saving as much as you can. you may be able to afford to buy a house, but are you able to afford maintenance?
