He can still have kids, although it may be a little harder to get pregnant. But if you are admitting your boyfriend obviously has a problem with drinking every day....is this the kind of person you want to father your child?

Yes, he probably can. He probably shouldn't father children, however, until he is able to quit smoking and drinking every day. He would be setting a bad example by his drinking behavior, and he would be endangering the child's lungs by smoking around the baby.
In addition, until he is your husband and not just your boyfriend, you should refrain from trying to have kids. If you are not both ready to commit to a life together, you should not be looking to commit to raising a child.

My husband in his past was a very heavy drinker 1/2 gallon of black velvet a day, a pack of cigarettes and even pot. As a child and early in his 20s he also experimented with various drugs {I didn't know him then and frankly wouldn't have wanted to}. He got his very first GF pregnant at 15 she lost the child. 6 years ago he got his gf of 10 yrs pregnant both were heavy drinkers, the mom does meth, and both smoke. He changed his ways and 6 months ago after us being together for 2 yrs we had our son. I fear that my husband will at some point relapse because once an alcoholic always an alcoholic even if they are "sober". You should ask yourself is the environment your bf presents to you one you'd want a child born into and raised in. Because my husband knows that if he goes back to the way he was prior to us meeting I will be gone and the only contact he will have with our son is through supervised in home visitation

He probably could, but over time this will seriously affect his health. Liver problems, lung problems, do you want the father of your children to die young? I wouldn't even start thinking about a baby until he addresses his drink and cigarrette habits. Children can become ill breathing in the smoke he produces, and what an ugly ugly thing for them to see.

yes, it is still possible for him to have kids. I'm not sure about the alcohol, but smoking does lower sperm count. But my boyfriend smokes almost 2 packs a day and i'm now about to deliver our second child.

Sadly, yes. He can probably procreate.
But the likelihood of his 'addiction' tendencies being passed on to his offspring is pretty high. Plan on raising a teenager that's going to have drug problems.

These things can reduce sperm count, and make a miscarriage more likely if pregnancy does occur because the health of the sperm is compromised.

He can. But it makes it harder for the two of you to conceive a child. Why do you want to have kids with someone who has such strong addictions?
