A large pot of something that keeps well and they can heat at odd hours, when they get hungry, like beef stew. Put your name on the lid with a piece of masking tape.

You could also offer to watch the children for an afternoon, if they are small; his wife is going to have a lot of stuff to do.

Your time card? or your hours worked??
Sorry, trying to make a small joke to make things a bit brighter.

I'm thinking just a sympathy card. I guess I haven't heard of family memebers given gifts before!
OR like others do, take food. A broken family have to eat and keep healthy, but their sorrow can beat them up, so the taking of already made meals, does help alot.

( maybe it's not the time to ask for a raise).

This close to christmas and thanksgiving I would think the office should maybe take up a collection of money and toys and give it to them it would probably be very much appreciated especially at this time of year OMG those poor kids losing their daddy so close to christmas that is going to be hard . Please all pray for them . Also call it a love offering cause they might see it as a pity thing. i am so sorry for your loss good luck and god bless and try to have a happy thanksgiving.

unless you were close to your boss's wife there is nothing to do but bring her and the family your condolences. having a tree planted somewhere in the deceased's name is always nice its like a living gesture and they will notify the family when it is planted.

Something the husband would of normally done that would be difficult for the wife to manage ...

I think food offerings are traditional. It depends on your relationship to the family however. I am sorry for your loss.

The best thing you can do is tell her that you will be there if she needs anything, and really mean it.
