My playstation 2 works sometimes then doesn't it always bring me up to the configuration screen. My boyfriend says its the lazer or lense because he used to plaay dvd's on it all the time. Is there anything that can be done to solve this? Thanks

i had the same problem with mine. i think you are probably on your way to buying a new console. however, you can prolong the enevitable by cleaning the lens. on the bottom of your ps2, the little rubbery knobs come off and underneath them, you will find either 6 or 8 screws. if you take them out, you can open up the ps2 and get to the lens. i cleaned mine with an alchohol swab, and it worked great for another 6 months. after 6 months, i had to repeat about once a week until i just got tired of messing with it, so i bought an xbox, which eventually did the same thing.

Use a CD lens cleaner. it's a CD with little brushes on one side.

yep, simply buy a new lense... it cost approximately 50 $....
