Can it thunderstorm in cold weather? Last night it was in the 30's and I heard thunder and saw some lightkaling. I thought only in hot weather when the temperature was warm and the atmosphere was cold in the sky, like in the summer?

The temperature of the atmosphere is mostly constant..it can change 1...2 degrees in maximum. So, thunderstorms have the same probability to occur...in summer or in winter.

Yes, it can happen during hot or cold weather all you are seeing is the build up of electricity in the clouds.

The other day it was 20 degrees here and thundering and lightning and pouring down rain. That's right. RAIN. I went outside in the rain and checked the thermometer outside and it said 20 degrees. I am still trying to figure out why it didn't snow

Yes, it even can happen when it's snowing. Thunder is just the sound produced by the electrstatic discharge. when conditions are right it can happen regardless of season.
