I would like to recover this file in an editable form so I can make changes in the content. After recovery where would this file be stored on my computer?

There is a software package that will convert from swf to fla. Basically it inports all elements, layers, and timeline. There are things that it cannot import however. Below is a search that you can find from lots of places.
I do NOT have experience with any of them, so search the sites wisely

Search for file recovery software. Be prepared for the fact that you might not get it back - worry about where it where it will appear only once you know it will!
