Hello, I've been off the pill now for three months after taking them for nine years. We've all heard that women have a slightly increased incidence of breast cancer when they use BC pills. But I was surprised to read that, although the risk starts to decline after you stop using them, it takes 10 years! to get them fully out of your system! Are there any long term users out there like me? I so, what are you're comments/experiences??

Yes you do hear lots of things but most of it is not true. Birth control pills of the present type have been in use for nearly 40 years. The weight of the evidence is that such pills reduce the incidence of a long list of diseases and I do not believe that they are linked to an increase in case. In 1985 for example the medical literature was suggesting that all women take such pills for health reasons. Attorneys over the past 5 to 10 years have changed what we are likely to say.
