This is one of my biggest fears... that what if the cord to the tampon breaks for some reason and the tampon stays stuck inside... an dhow do they then take it out?

I have used them before but prefer to use towels for this reason, but I would love to know if anyone ever had a bad experience with them

my string once went up too far i was worried coz i couldnt find it! After a few mins i fished around and found it, if you cant then ask your boyf or doctor. It wont be the 1st time the doc would of done it. I dont thnk the string will break off tho as there knotted all the way through the tampon. Dont worry x

Nope... never had this problem although i had a mate that forgott to take the last one out and it went right up!!! (if ya get me) she had it removed by a Dr and had to take some antibiotics as a precausion...

BAR that ... nope ive NEVER heard anyone say that the cords broke on them!!! besides if you look at a tampon you will notice that the string travels all the way through it so its designed NOT to break!!! but hey thats just what ive noticed!!!

On any tampon I've ever used, the string is braided all the way up into the fabric of the tampon. There is no possible way, short of someone cutting it that it is going to break.

nope, string has neva failed on me....i'm telling u, once u get into using tampons, u'll hav a lot more freedom! they're great! everytime before i insert one, i tug on the string a bit just to make sure, but i have been told that if it does break (which is extremely unlikely) u have 2 go up there with ur fingers and get it out...gross i kno, but it has 2 come out!

The first gal is right - the strings don't break very easily. And if it does, you probably have to just feel around for it. Sounds like not so much fun, but in any case, tampons are perfectly safe (and much more sanitary!!)

Yes n it was a really awkward experience....freaked me out for sure i was paranoid each time a wore tem for a while after...it's not to hard to get out without a string its just stressful.

My friend broke her hymen with a tampon n it was stuck she n her mum had to carefully remove it...her mums a nurse u see...

so bad things happen with them.

It doesn't happen often, but it does occasionally. The one thing you should NEVER do is stick something metal / sharp like tweezers up inside of you: a perforation of the vagina or the cervix can cause a fatal infection!! If you can't get hold of it with your finger and ease it out, you would need to see a doctor to have it removed.

If this ever happens.....don't worry because it can't get lost. But get it out as soon as possible because you could develop toxic shock syndrome, which can be fatal. You can usually reach it yourself, or maybe your bf could if you have one.
As a last resort you'd have to go to the emergency place because of the risk of tss. It's no more embarrassing than having an internal or a cervical smear.
