Sky Broadband are brilliant but one catch you must have Sky! Cheap and reliable!
Tiscali were good, fast, unlimited and cheap and good with call package, only downside is if something goes wrong they are in India and have poor English skills. Some call centres in India are good, but they are poor. They told me to stick in wire the Post Box!!!
Tesco are quite good but I'm biased I work for them. AVOID BT, NTL. BT are expensive and poor.

AOL is OK, if you know nothing about computers, computing or the internet........... personally, I wouldnt want their crap software anywhere near my PC...... but I do know people who use it, and it basically does the job of getting them onto the internet.
I used to use ukonline, and it is a good, decent company which is user friendly and doesnt suffer much from outages. I left, basically, because I wanted cable TV
I use NTL, as I have the full cable package of phone/ tv/ broadband.
I have experienced problems (actually, more with the TV than the internet) but not too many, or too often........ what can I say?.... It suits me

A mate of mine has Sky Internet, he's had no problems whatsoever (can't believe I've just used that word...). Stay away from NTL and BT... they're poo...
Best option is always dedicated lines but these are expensive to install and now companies are in partnerships with other providers, so check first.

used ntl for a couple of years the service was very good (fast)
BUT the admin side was absolute C**P when we moved house to an area where they didn't operatetook many emails phone calls etc to get them off my back.
I am now with bt and they are one big joke . listen to this! we had trouble with our phone (wouldnt work) but the internet was ok so rang them on my mobile and emailed telling them not as easy as you think we got an email message saying we have tried to ring you to see what the problem is but couldnt get a reply.took one week to fix got £2 refund. no wonder people call me grumpy.

Depends on what you are looking for. Do you just want a plain and simple internet connection? Or do you want good support, and all the extras like anti-virus, firewall, internet security?
AOL gives good support for the novice computer user and also provides these 'extras'.
NTL (cable broadband), gives a good fast internet connection but poor support. Good for the IT professionals like me :)
BT.... nah!
Tiscali - Pretty good
Sky Broadband - Available soon if you are a Sky customer, and free wireless router!

I use TalkTalk and have no problems - The benefits are all UK calls and International calls when you sign up for the Line Rental and Calls package - Total £20 per month.
Unfortunately, these do not include 0870 type numbers or mobile numbers.

Depending on what type of Internet Service you're looking for. As far as dial-up I don't think you can beat NetZero for $9.95 a month. They also offer a "back-up" plan for $4.95 a month but probably has some sort of maximum usage allowed. If you're looking for DSL or cable Internet Service you're kinda limited to what is available for your address.

It all depends on what criteria(s) you are after: more download, cheaper prices, more email addresses etc.
Check out http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ for ISPs.

I do not recommend AOL.
