If your feeling lonely you must know why, and then acknowledge the reason. Once you've accomplished this, then seek positive ways to eliminate it. Not all people with this feeling need medicine to control it, however if your case is sever you should be placed on an anti-depressant. To determine which one to take, and the correct dose you need to see your Dr., and remember most medications do not work like a magic pill most of them takes a few weeks it get completely in your system, and start taking full affect. So, don't give up taking them just because you don't see an immediate change. Anti-depressants are not a cure for your feelings, they only help relieve your negative thoughts. If medication alone does not help, you may need something more to regulate you moods, and uplift your spirits. Try and find activities that brings sunshine to your day, and gives you an overall sense of peace. I don't know your religious preference, however I'm going to recommend reading the Bible. Not long ago I experienced this same sense of loneliness, but when I actively started seeking God, he was there waiting to comfort me. Some other good suggestions is to build a good support system with people you can trust, and rely on. You may find this in a friend or a family member. If you don't have someone to talk too, then turn off your computer and start searching. Look within your church, a coffee shop, an art musem. People are everywhere an not all are going to come to you, so get out there and be social with a positive attitude. Good Luck & remember all things are possible with God.

No drug in itself can reduce the feelings of loneliness without accompanying therapy to find out why a person is so lonely. Depression in other words has many faces and names and can fool anyone from time to time of feelings of being fine when indeed one is not. I suffered from both conditions and am on my way to a healthy recovery through diligent work on myself and getting to know me.

Everyone is alone. Some people let it bother them more than others. Do something that makes you happy, and maybe find a friend when you do it.

Just go to a bar and get drunk. Drunk people are very friendly to other drunk people. I suggest an Irish Pub with irish music. Then you won't be lonely.
