I'd recommend:

+Naruto-the story of a Ninja with a powerful fox demon trapped inside him.
+Dr. Slump-If you like Akira Toriyama's stories, you'll probably like it, character deisngs are very similiar but its a comedy tale.
+Bleach-The story of Ichigo Kursaki, a soul-reaper.
+Rurouni Kenshin-The 'man slayer' a great tale based on many actual events.
+Flame of Recca-Similar to Yu-yu-hakusho, only with ninjas.
+Vagabound-Warning, it has suggestive themes, but its a great manga, a lot more realistic than Kenshin.

Naruto or Bleach, though I highly recommend Naruto.Did you know that the person who created Naruto got some ideas from Dragon Ball? For instance,Naruto the main character wears a orange outfit just like Goku. But both series is very cool.I garanteed you'll be hooked to either one!!

Yay, fantasy! Well, if you dig high fantasy, I'd highly recommend David Eddings. Namely, The Belgariad and The Elenium. They're fantastic twists on some high fantasy stereotypes and freaking hilarious. If you like fairy tale type books, I'd recommend Gail Carson Levine (author of Ella Enchanted) and Shannon Hale (author of Princess Academy and the Books of Bayern). If you want something that's just awesome and stuff, The Looking Glass Wars might be worth looking into. Basically, it's like Alice In Wonderland, but it's the "real" story, with more war, drama, romance, etc. If you're looking to expand your horizons into something not-so-fantasy, I'd suggest Odd Thomas (and Dean Koontz books in general). They're suspenseful, funny and totally awesome. If you want something of a parody, you really ought to check out How To Rescue a Dead Princess by Jeff Strand. It's amazingly hilarious and wacky. Hope this helps!

Go with Naruto, it has almost everything, and it's popularity in Japan is pretty good since it's the best Ninja Manga there
