My mum & dad both have tv on loud due to their hearing difficulties and luckily I am blessed with very good hearing for someone my age, so its almost unbearable to sit in the same room when they have the tv on. I know what you mean about the adverts though, even they complain about the difference in sound when they come on. Personally I leave the room as I want to keep my hearing as good as possible. I'm not sure who you would complain to about this so I'd be interested in seeing any answer you do get regarding anyone that you could contact.

It's to get your attention- All part of the marketing ploy! Turn the volume down when the adverts arrive or go and make a nice cuppa!!

Late at nght its even worse. You think you've got tv on acceptable volume.. then adverts come on and you've got to jump up quickly to turn volume down to avoid waking everyone else up. Then when show comes back on you've again got to turn volume up.
That said i don't watch tv much more at night since ITV has gone so crap with all its telephone dial-in £££££ quizzes.

It's really bad, and also why is itv quieter than bbc (so you have to turn it up) then the ad volume is awful!
However, it'll be worse when we go digital - they have ads every 7 mins on that! I can't understand why we haven't told this government where to go, ordering us to change our viewing and listening habits, just so they can get extra revenue from selling more air space to digital channels...

this is really annoying, you have to have the programme you are watching on loud, then when the adverts come on, you have to quickly lower the volume or get your eardrums burst!!!
