I go to college and we've been given an essay to write in one of my lessons. Im studying with adults and as adults we know what happens in massage parlours etc.
Im asking for the publics honest views on this. What do you think of men who visit the parlours for sexual activities and also, what do you think about the females who provide the service? Bearing in mind that its not a career many choose to do, alot of them (as i have found out through research) feel they have no other option to earn a decent wage. IE they have no qualifications, single parents etc.
Cant wait to read any replies.
What would be absolutly fantastic is if there IS ANYONE who reads this ... works at a parlour? you could send me a message via yahoo messenger ( stephy_2004uk) if you did not want to be open about the kind of work you do.
Many Thanks
Steph

Well, a girl's got to make a living, I guess! And after a while I suppos it's a mechanical process, like milking a cow or something. The girls are providing a service, simple as, and I can't see the harm in men going there. In fact, I wish they had more for women too...

I know someone who worked in a massage parlour, she's probably still at it. Her background: single parent, lives on council estate, serious drug habit. She's also a lesbian (which is by the by, but may help somewhat). In general, she's a pretty f*cked up person, and if you've been fucked up by life, there's no stopping folk usually, whatever they want to do, or how extreme or taboo. In her case, she's a total hardfaced b*tch, which again is by the by but when life batters you, it's hard not to turn into one.)

Now, I'm not saying all parlour workers are like that, I'm just giving you her circumstances so you can compare and contrast.

Also, I suggest you read 'Porno' by Irvine Welsh. And I bet there a few case studies on the 'Net knocking around.

I always think Massage Parlour is just a legal way of saying Brothel, obviously the girls that work there aren't doing it through choice but through necessity, but at least they are in a warm and a safe-ish place rather than walking the streets on their own or hanging around on your street corner, having said that I wouldn't want a brothel next door for a neighbour. The men that go there are quite desperate I would think, but maybe if they couldn't go to these places they might turn to other methods to get it like forcing themselves on people.

ok these women say need the money, single parent bla bla.but look at it this way you have been married for 20 years or 6 month ether way u really love this person/male and latter discover they have been to one(parlour)how would u feel cheated on ofcourse but is it all your mans fault.i mean offered on a plate type of thing these women do for a living.do they stop to think these men maybe married have children a wife who loves them and doing things there wife/girlfriend should be. so to say no other option is a lie there are tons and being on benifits cant be as bad as beening used. and breaking a few hearts and maybe familys.i say ban the lot of them pull there pants up and do something to be proud of and top risking people and there on health.

I understand that many women who work in these places have no choice and it is the only way they can make an income to support themselves and/or their family.

I do not know anyone who does this specifically but I have worked in a lapdancing club (as a dancer) and some of the girls I worked with were escorts - although they kept it VERY quiet, and I'm pretty sure some of the girls provided extras for certain customers, although I never did this myself. I would never judge a person based on their occupation as some people are not as lucky as I have been in life.

I have no respect for any man who pays a woman for sex however - a man who needs to pay for it is not a real man in my eyes.

Sorry, I don't work in one but.... a friend of mine was a manager of a lap dancing club (no extras provided!) and he later married one of the girls. Her attitude was that she needed the money to continue her studies and get a better life. I used to go there with my female friends and we used to have a great time! As for men who go to massage parlours etc... they are paying for a service and so long as the whole things above board (as much as possible!) then at least it keeps them off the streets. Maybe the whole sex industry should be legalised then there would be better deals for the women that work there.

Each to his own thats what I say. Men that use them are paying for a service(!!) like any other, and the women that work in them are earning a wage just like anybody else. Claire makes a good piont about ladies being made to work in them illegally, that is totally wrong, but folk who make the choice to visit or work in them well thats ok by me.

Knew a girl years ago who worked in one .She started off go-go dancing in a bar as a student and one of the other girls said there was more money to be made in massage places.I remeber her telling me the men were awful dirty rude domineering she was told that any extras were at her discretion. She also said that EVERY client she had asked for either hand or head(dont know if i can put that was trying to be discreet)and she always refused so the regulars werent asking for her.2 wks later she got her books told that they didnt think she was suited to that line of work.!!

I can"t work out whether the girls are exploiting the men or the men are exploiting the girls. Its a symbiotic relationship where both parties are in a win-win situation. I once went to a massage parlour but was very drunk.

I hate the thought of them. Some of them as well bring girls in from other country's and make them work there, they have no choice. I feel really sorry for them.
