I'm 36 1/2 weeks pregnant and when I went to use the restroom this morning, my underwear was a little wet and when I wiped, there was a big clump of clear mucus. Was that my mucus plug? It was colorless and odorless and wasn't tinged with blood or anything. I don't know what it's supposed to look like because I didn't lose it with my first pregnancy. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

This is just the start of it. It will progress and can take days or a week or more. eventually it will be blood stain or rusty in colour. You will notice your cramping coming more frequent and increase in severity. Aound ever five minutes you go in to the hospital. cramping could have fifteen minute intervals in between five minutes but as long as the five minutes seems fairly regular. First time labours usually progress slowly and can be two day labours. You water might break. but just before the baby will come you will notice blood. go to the hospital without fail at that point. they will check if your water has broke or explain to you if they need to break it. They will measure how far you have diallated. The best indication will be your medical staff as to how far you have progressed. everybody is different and every pregnancy is different you will never what you are in for or what you will get or how quickly or slowly you will progress. Some moms go on a cleaning spree called the nesting instinct just before laobour begins. You could be in for a few weeks wait yet or mabey not. Read up in the signs of labour. Prepare yourself pack your hospital/diaper bag. and best wishes.

During my first pregnancy, from about 36 weeks, I remember wiping and finding large amounts of mucus for about a week before I went into labor. I'd asked about the mucus, and was told it was completely normal to discharge mucus like that, but if there was blood at one end, it was likely the mucus plug.

It could just be discharge. Your mucus plug is NORMALLY tinged with brown or red and it usually happens over a period of several times in the day. If it is your plug, dont be worried, your body regenerates another one.

I am also about 37 weeks pregnant and am having the same thing. I asked my nurse about it and she asked me if it was tinged with blood or brown in color. This has been happening to me for weeks though, I have heard that you can loose it for a long time and I have even heard that it can grown bck? not sure if that is true though good luck

Normally your mucus plug is brown and mucusy but it is possible for it to be clear, i would just pay attention to see if you are still leaking anything especially since it was oderless it might be the start of your water breaking. I would call your doctor and see what they had to say or if you are really worried i would go to the hospital, its better to be safe than sorry!

I doubt it, it was probably just extra discharge. You'll know when you lose the plug - trust me.
