There is prior case law on this issue as it has been tried.

Gamers tried fist by filing suit against Sony many years ago for an "addiction" to Ever Quest.

Do some research on the net and you will find out all you need to know. But, don't get your hopes up... Courts won't side with you for game addictions.

Anyone can file a lawsuit against any person or company. The question is, do you have a good enough case to win? If you are a minor, then I believe that the parents might have a good chance of winning a suit, claiming the game was made in such a way to keep the child's attention and become addictive. I think if you are an adult, then the opponents will raise the issue of free will and self-control, and I really don't think you'll win.

Sounds pretty much like your average 18 year old discovering World of Warcraft. This type of addiction is actually treated but it sounds to me as if its rather "Mild". To be quite honest if he's threatening your mum and she's afraid then perhaps you should cut off the internet. Gaming is a hobby and is fun but without boundaries it can be dangerous for your grades, friendships and health. You're his sister and even though you're saying he doesn't listen you need to make him listen. If all else fails try and get a hold of his account and change the password... He'll have no idea what happened and be forced to stop playing for a while. Just don't give up :P

A thirteen year-old Chinese boy jumped to his death last year from a 24 story building, allegedly after playing too much World of Warcraft. The parents of the boy are now suing game maker Blizzard with the help of lawyer and "internet game addiction researcher." The legal team also plans on filing class action suits against "the whole game industry on behalf of other parents."

You can sue anyone for anything as long as there is a lawyer who will take the case. If he is good enough, you might be able to win. You can testify about how you are so addicted to the game that you neglected your family and lost your job and the game ruined your life.

If that's the case, I'm going to sue Teletubies!! Thats a horror programme thats not good for kids, and should only be on after 10pm. Also I'm going to sue Extra chewing gum as I nearly choked on it the other day. Also not to mention the crack on that road that I nearly cracked my head on, the lampost that I hit, I don't know who put that ther, but it should be removed, also that tissue that keeps getting stuck up my nose, that's not safe, they should be stopped, stupid cheap tissues, also the pen that stopped working while I was doing my exams, and many more things.

Nobody forced anyone to smoke or eat McDonalds, so why should they be sued, likewise game addiction. But give it a try you never know with this upsidedown world.

So, it is the company that makes a game that is responsible for some loser's lack of discipline and personal responsibility?

Only a lawyer could think up such bullshit.

I guess you can try filing for "Economic Sabotage" since because of it you got so addicted you forgot to work and earn a means of living for yourself. I mean because they(the company) created that you were distracted from earning in which is a kind of sabotage.

What the hell is this world coming to, people who sue McDonalds are losers in life who are just looking for a quick buck.
