With an oil based eye make up remover - water based will not take of water proof mascara (basic chem/bio - polar v non polar molecules!). So the above suggestions probably will work.

I use the Almay kind in the blue bottle b/c it's cheap and takes off everything - the oiliness is nice at night...I take off the eye make up and then wash my face as usual and a little of the remover lingers and keeps the area from drying out.

Bi Facil by Lancome is by far the best stuff out there (and it smells like roses!) but it's just to expensive for eye make up remover!

The best of course is to use a half oil-based eye makeup-remover, coz the oil will dissolve the waterproof mascara. Lancome's is good.

If your waterproof mascara is not super strong, you could consider something like Kiehls, red earth..etc.

I use Almay and a q-tip but I have a better tip...when it comes to waterproof mascaras:
try REMARKABLE----- BY COVERGIRL..
its a washable waterproof mascara
Awesome product and no it doesnot run and no it does not cause racoon eyes..
Just clean face in the shower and it comes off.
May leave a slight residue ( very slight) almay is the best remover for that little bit...

i wouldn't recommend using an oil based make up remover around the eye area. nor would i recommend putting vaseline or lotions around the eye area. l'oreal makes an eye make up remover that is inexpensive and not oil based. It's a clear bottle with blue liquid inside.
Use a cotton ball, put some of the make up removed and gently rub on your lashes. Don't be too rough or you'll end up pulling lashes off!

Make up remover for certain areas of the face, may include the lips and eye make-up or the face foundation itself. u can try loreal's gentle cleansing milk, or clinique's take the day off make up remover. they work pretty well on me. but remember to wash ur entire face with facial foam to prevent oil from the remover to stay on ur face.
