True statement! Is that what you are looking for?

Here is why
1989 Andre Ware
1990 Ty Detmer
1992 Gino Terreta
1993 Charlie Ward
1996 Danny Wuerffel
2000 Chris Weinke
2001 Eric Crouch
2002 Carson Palmer
2003 Jason White
2004 Matt Leinart

Remember these guys? All QBS who won the Heisman in the past 20 years. Wanna play the game "Where are they now?" Do 2 of them still have jobs in the NFL, are they both from USC?

QBs are a huge risk to draft in the 1st round yet alone the 1st pick! I see Brady Quinn going early too, maybe before Smith, but it is too risky so I say no!

If not him then who?
maybe:
Garrett Wolfe
Calvin Johnson
Lamaar Woodley
Jake Long
Ted Ginn Jr. could even be considered

Remember the Lions have already failed drafting a QB, so if its them then don't bet on Smith!

I think it's really going to come down to who pick's first - if it's Arizona - they've got a qb of the future in Lienart.
If it's Detroit - I'm not sure if a QB is where they want to spend their money or if they are sold on a qb as a first pick (they think they made a mistake with Herrington). The lions are solid at reciever. I cpould see them going after a lineman to protect Kitna. I could aslo see them going after a linebacker like Pulluzny from Penn State.
If it's the Raiders (he pray's it not them), I'm not sold on Aaron Brooks. But I don't think Troy is a good fit. The raiders need OL help big-time and they will need to put some talent into the recievers. Moss looks completely uninterested in even being there and the Porter thing is bad.
Troy, if he winds up playing QB in the NFL, will go late first , all depending on how the season shakes out. He's not a rookie starter though, I think he will clipboard for the first year.

From what I have read, no Troy Smith is a late first or early second round pick. That should mean he will not be expected to play his first year in the NFL. That should help his development into the pro ranks. I am hoping my lowley Cleveland Browns pick him, bring him back to his hometown and have him turn into Lebron of football.

Troy Smith is the most VERSITILE quaterback in football, and to say just because he's short means he won't be the 1st in the draft, is absolute nonsense. 6'1 215 isn't all that small. There have been plenty of NFL Qb's that were his stature, and were still succesful. Troy Smith will most definately take the #1 spot come draft day! GO BUCKS!!!!

Troy Smith's accuracy is amazing. However, if you watch his delivery his passing lane is down among the lineman's rush and within reach (i.e., a hand up would easily knock the ball down). This type of delivery will not work consistently in the pros. I think his height will be an issue and prevent him from being taken as a No. 1 pick.

i'm hoping he gets of venture simply by fact i think of he caught too plenty flack for the Florida activity final 300 and sixty 5 days. it ought to not ensue consiering Billick only have been given fired and in the event that they draft a QB, that should spell the tip of Smith's tenure in Baltimore and probably the tip of his profession. That entire offense needs help and the protection is a getting a splash gray additionally. The O-line is terrible, the recievers at the instant are not explosive and their greatest hazard is Todd Heap. it relatively is not stable adequate, fantastically in a league the place the ideal communities are putting up approximately 29+ factors a activity. We had 7 QB's with over 4000 yards passing this 300 and sixty 5 days, possibly i'm getting a splash excited yet that's a "QB's league" as they call it.

Agreed. Brady Quinn is the more prototypical NFL QB. He comes from a system that was brought from the NFL via Charlie Weiss. Troy Smith will at least go after Quinn.

I think the Cardinals are going to end up with the first pick, and in that case, Troy Smith will definitely not be the first pick. Arizona already has Matt Leinart, why would they need another prodigy quarterback? Unless Arizona trades their pick, then anything could happen...

Depends on if the team wants a QB or what and besides Brady Quinn is over-rated and likely ahead of him on most people's minds. We will have to see how he does at the combine to really get an idea.

Hey, Reggie Bush wasn't the #1 pick this year. It depends on who's picking first.
