Jim Brown was the greatest RB of all time, however LT has the potential to be the greatest. He's already shattering records set by Jim Brown and Emmit Smith, I also think that when his career is over, he'll have more all purpose yards than Walter Payton. Remember LT had a season with 100 receptions, I don't think there are many RB's that have done that.

I would love for him to be named as a MVP for the season, but its to early for him to be given the label of best RB ever. You can't forget that Barry Sanders played in the NFL so did Emmit Smith and Walter Payton, and of course we can't forget Jim Brown, oh and there was a RB from Illinios named Red Grange.
We already know that LT is going to the NFL HAll OF Fame, but once he gets to 10 years veteran status,we can't call him the best RB ever.

LT is the Greatest:

Active RB
Active Scorer
Active Playmaker
Active Athlete

notice the one common word in each statement "active".

He is without a doubt the Best right Now, if he stays healthy he is gonna challenge the title of best ever, but not yet!

Good question and in answering this question there will be a lot of old names brought up. Jim Brown, Walter Peyton, Gayle Sayers, etc.....These guys were the best of the best and there names should be mentioned but so should LT as he is something special. When is his career is over Will he be considered the best ever? I don't know but his name will be mentioned with the best.

It's too early to call him the best ever, but he will be. He is the most talented RB ever, let's put it that way. But he has to make it through the rest of his career before you can really say anything. But having said that, if he were to retire right now, I would still put him top five all time. Jim Brown himself said that he considers L.T. to be on the same level as Payton or himself. Marcus Allen said the same thing. Hard to disagree with those guys, if anyone should know, it's them.

LT COULD end up being one of the best, and he is amazing right now, but he's got a LONG way to go before he even gets the Hall, much less rips the title from Payton/Brown.

I am going to add 5 more names that are better then LT is now. Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, Tony Dorsett, Earl Campbell, O.J. Simpson. LT is the best this year. What is his longest TD run this year? He has been scoring inside the red zone on most of his TD's. Remember that media coverage is 24 hours. They need something to talk about. He is becoming one of the greats. I remember them saying Bo Jackson was going to be the best running back. He was great but not the greatest.
My vote Walter Payton

No, but someday he could be... he has all the tools. As of now, the best running backs in football have been Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown. He may become the best someday, but he certainly isn't the best of all-time now. At any moment an injury can end it, like it did for Gale Sayers when he was touted as the next greatest of all-time before he blew out his knee.

no.

He has the potential to be, but hes not even top 5 right now.
(dont believe the ESPN hype)

1. Walter Payton
2. Emmitt Smith
3. Jim Brown
4. Barry Sanders
5. Gayle Sayers.

LT may have the numbers, but when it comes to enjoy watching I'll take my man Larry Johnson. He is the "cut and run" type back that LT is. He puts hits on linebackers instead of getting them.
