I tried the shot in the butt before, and had horrible side effects. For several years now, I have been on Yasmin(the pill), which is what my gyno recommended. I think no matter what contraceptive you use, everyone has side effects. And everyone's side effects are different too. I know that the pill causes calcium loss. So, I take calcium vitamins 3x a week and drink lots of milk. lol You just have to research these things :)

You may take any oral contraceptive. I am a strong advocate of 'older' inexpensive pills as they are the most effective with the lowest incidence of side effects and also result in regular but relatively mild menstrual cycles. Physicians are programmed to use the latest and greatest even if it is not as good. The oral contraceptive I use most often is generic Ortho Novum 1/35. The cost is around $20 per month producing regular cycles with usually light bleeding.

If you have ONE partner, you may want to ask about an IUD. They've come a long way and work very well now.

i think birth control pills really mess up ur body. i would recomment not taking any and use condoms, pullout method, or just dont have sex at all till ur ready for a family. birth control pills can mess you up and damage you in the long run. Im speaking for experience.
