When Tailing A Car Always Maintain A Safe Distance, & If You Feel The Driver Has Spotted Your Car, then You Should Slow Down, Wait Keep A Distance of atleast 2 - 3 cars.

You need to get friend with a car he does not know...one who knows how to drive. It's tougher if you do it yourself. That way if he sees the car you could hide below the dash.
You don't want him to say what Moe said on The Simpsons "Oh, that's just Homer's car going by"
