There are a *LOT* of quality control issues with this car right now. I would advise against getting one right now - wait 6-12 months and let GM get the bugs out.

Did you know that if you close the hood with the doors closed you can damage the doors' paint?

If you raise the car on a lift improperly, you can easily crack the body panels. I had a friend who bought one and the dealer did both of these things to it while getting it ready for delivery (he wound up cancelling the deal). Just imagine getting your tires rotated or the oil changed by a $6/hr kid - think he knows the proper procedure to lift the car or to open and close the hood without damaging it?

I am in the collision industry and have seen a few of these crashed already (this is the same basic car as the 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice) and the weld quality on the frames is not great. Repair information is hard to come by... GM doesn't provide much and the dealers aren't receiving proper training on them (see above comments).

It's a fun car to drive - I'd just wait and see if GM can fix some of these issues before I bought one.

It's a very nice car, I'm buying one within the next couple of years after I find out how well the car holds up. I currently own a 95 S-series (Saturn's original production) which I'm hesitant to trade out of, as it's been a very good car to me. I've heard horror stories about GM's brain child, Saturn's L series, but since discontinuing the L-series and introducing the Ion and working the kinks out of the Vue, Saturn is pulling itself back together quite remarkably, especially with the release of their first sportier car. The sky is definitely beefier than the Solstice, and when you compare apples to apples against other similarly priced roadsters such as the Miata and Solstice, it's definitely a good buy.
