Because the republicans used what little influence they had to bog the policies and members of the democratic party down as much as possible. The republicans, since the days of the Clinton Administration have started using the "Jerry Springer" mode of politics now. Now keep in mind that the Bush administration did not want to go too much into detail about the attacks on 9-11. They wanted to sell their version of events to justify the huge budget expenses and invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Any deep investigation would lead to the details of that day, and possibly show the weakness of the Bush administrations policies and practices. Now that the republicans have lost control of the government, expect some more in-depth looks into the events of 9-11 and the events afterwords.

Actually, the money spent on the Independent Prosecutor first started with the investigation of Clinton's (and Hillary's) involvement in land scams and bank frauds in Arkansas. The Clintons had many ties to people who were indicted and convicted and imprisoned, like Webb Hubbell.

The problem was that in the course of investigations, Kenneth Starr kept uncovering more corruption and crimes around the reeking Clintons.

When Clinton lied under oath, that became another part of the investigation.

But, you need to understand, this Independent Prosecutor law was actually opposed by Republicans, but supported by Democrats and Clinton. And the law that brought about Clinton's perjured testimony was a law signed with great fanfare by Clinton himself - a law allowing an accused sexual harasser's history to be evidence of a pattern of behavior.

And it wasn't a 'sex scandal', it was lying under oath in a court of law and obstruction of justice by suborning perjury. False testimony in a court of law is a serious crime.

As for the specious spewing about "the murder of nearly 3000 innocent people", what the hell is that about? Is that the moronic 9/11 conspiracy stupidity?

Sorry, but thanks for playing "I almost had a Clue"

IT MADE NEWS. The one thing that the government loves better than anything is to listen to itself talk. The fact that Clinton did nothing illegal matters not 1 bit. They got to keep their names in the news for months and they don't care what that costs. Guess who pays?

The Repubs in Congress were jealous that Clinton was having sex, so they made his second term a living hell for him.

Maybe Clinton lied,
but nobody died.

Chimpeach!
