The heavenly worm

Are you sure that you mean 'invented'? It's a bit like asking who 'invented' the Alps.

Earthworms are a form of invertebrate life, which evolved to eat microbes in the soil (thereby aerating it, which is good for plant life), and in turn, to be eaten by birds. They're just here. There was an ecological niche. Earthworms filled it.

On the other hand, this IS philosophy, not zoology, or gardening.

One could propose that the Deity(ies) of your choice 'invented' the earthworm.

One could propose that earthworms' existence is their essence, and they are self-inventive.

One could deconstruct the earthworm, but one would only make more earthworms, as they each have five little brains, and any piece with a brain can grow back out to a full earthworm.

One could apply a hermeneutic of suspicion to your question, and demand to know why you want to know; what makes you think anyone invented them; are you really sure you mean 'earthworm'; and who are you, anyway?

One could invert the question, and have an earthworm wondering who invented you.

This is the sort of muddle-headed stuff that made me pack philosophy in, and stick to religious-studies. I KNEW all of THAT was fabrication.

If earthworms were invented, where are they manufactured?

Cui bene?

Why asking like this? Have you been bitten by one, or do they try to make love to you, or bothered you in any way? The fact is that they are just fine, they fertilise the soil, lay long long on the ground when it rains in the summer, and the fluoresce
In the dark, now this much, I bet, you did not know. So don't talk rude about them; they are cool, made by the same God who made you and me.
