I believe there are people who believe there are such "healers" Most of these people are either afraid of real doctors, or who are terminally ill. It is sad that some would take advantage of a person who is facing their darkest hour..

For the record, I am a Born-Again Christian, who does believe that, if he chooses to do so, God can and does heal today, but the event is the rare exception, and not the rule.
That being said, I have no use for these charlatans who come out there in the name of God, claiming and put on this song and dance! My wife worked in a group home in Grand Rapids MI five years ago. One of her clients was a Hospice woman who believed with all her heart she would come out of a Benny Hinn crusade healed. She returned from it extremely disappointed, and did not talk to anyone for three weeks, then died about two months later! (She had left Hinn's ministry what little money she had in her will).
In the scriptures, whenever Jesus healed, he did not make a big show of it. In fact, he often told those he healed not to go telling others about it, but they did anyway. When Jesus did heal, it was something that evidently happened before everyone (leprosy, raising others from the dead, hemmoraging) and not something like somebody's, "ears popping open" or "a severe pain in my lower back" where the viewer has to take the word of both the alleged healer and the one allegedly healed that it did take place.
I've always maintained that, if these alleged healers really had this great gift from God, why don't they go straight into the hospitals and use it there? Why is it that they refuse to talk to the press when they come to town (and, please don't anyone give me the answer that the press persecutes them. I've heard many well known gospel singers give interviews to the press, and the press was very kind to them when they were in Grand Rapids).
In 2 Timothy 3, Paul warns of how, in the last days, people will use the name of God for their own personal gain and profit, and I strongly believe these phoney faith healers are the primary example of that prophecy being fulfilled! Sadly, it is the local church who has to clean up their messes of those who have been hurt and disapponted because they were told, "They didn't have enough faith to be healed", as well as to others who point to this sickening display as being typical for what those who claim the gospel of Jesus Christ is about!

I have not personally had any experiences with "faith healers", but I do believe the following to be true.
22"Have[f] faith in God," Jesus answered. 23"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."[g]
There is a lot to be said for what one believes to be true, and if someone believes strongly enough that they will be healed, then in all probability they will be.
If you want to see an excellent documentary on the subject on a large scale and the scientific theories of infinite possibilities that exist, check out "What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole". They also have a web site, just google "What the Bleep".

i think they are called faith healers because eventually its ur faith that will heal you.have you ever been in a situation where someone just suggests that you might get a head ache and just because the thought is in ur head you can get the head ache.....so i believe that that faith depending on how strong it is might actually lead u to get well....of course some serious illnesses are a bit more complicated than that and am not saying that its a true for of healing either but it can happen...................

I think its a bunch of hogwash. Don't know if you ever heard of Benny Hinn. He is one of the biggest "faith healers". He is a joke. Its almost as good as watching Comedy LIve. I believe back int he day of Jesus, there was healing, but not nowadays.

I think they're quacks who prey on people who are at their most vulnerable point. Could you honestly tell a cancer patient that you can cure them when doctors have given them only a few months to live? Could you tell the frantic mother of a retarded child that you can cure her child and make him normal?

Just because I think I have never seen a miracle, I am not ready to say that they don't exist. Blessed are ye who have not seen and yet believe.
