Young ferrets can bite hard and so can ferrets that haven't been handled much or those who have pyscological problems through being abused or neglected. It sounds like your ferret it just a baby and so he hasn't learned that human's skin is much thinner than their own skin.
You must conntinue to handle and play with your ferret as much as you can, he needs at least 4 hours a day out of his cage with lots of toys and games to play preferably with you who will be his favourite toy ever!!! This is hard when you've been bitten cos of course you will be a little scared of him now but if you don't handle him lots then he will never learn how to "handle" you!
I personally wouldn't recommend flicking him on the nose because firstly it will hurt him and secondly he will then associate your hand with pain and he will want to bite you more!
When I first got my ferret he was a nipper, luckily he never drew blood but each time he tried to bite me hard I said "NO" in a low firm voice,or I would squeal as if in pain, if he continued then I put him back in his cage, this is torture for little fuzz butts cos they thrive on being played with. If you try the time out technique then only leave him in his cage for a couple of mins cos he will forget why he's there if you leave him longer.
The main thing to remember is the more you handle him the better the bond between you will become, my Freddie is soooo cute and funny, we have a great time together and he doesn't bite me at all now, he even gives me little weasil kisses!!!! Good luck to you xx

Yes, this is very normal. You can train your ferret not to bite though. Never hit the ferret. This is what you do to train it: You'll need to do this every day, about 2-3 times per day, for two weeks. Get a small bowl. In that, beat up one egg. Get some cream (the real stuff and not milk), and add to the egg and mix well. Get your ferret out in a confined area. Dip your fingers in the mixture and let him lick it. When he starts to nip hard and/or bite, withdraw your fingers and say "no" in a VERY firm voice. Do this over and over for about a 15 minute stretch. At the end of 2 weeks you'll have a ferret that gives kisses and never bites.

Ferrets bite each other as a part of play. Their skin is much thicker than ours. A ferret that is handled correctly and taught will learn to not bite down hard on humans. So, yes, it is normal for a very young ferret because they are behaving naturally and think they are just playing. They have not learned any different yet.

When ferrets are very young, they do not know any better, and might bite you hard enough to make you bleed. They are like puppies. You have to train them not to bite. I found that flicking mine on the nose made her realize that it wasn't ok to bite like that. She learned very quickly.

Well, if it does bleed, and it bit u that many times, yes!
But if it just bites once, it will just sting. I suggest getting a different pet like a hamster or guinea pig.

Ferrets play very rough with each other. they have thick skin so it doesn't hurt them to play like that. it probably wasn't intentional.
