I understand that leopard geckos can be quite hardy and do well with stress and nominal neglect. Don't get me wrong, I don't stress out nor neglect my baby, Frida. However, she lives in my classroom, and I am wondering if I should take her home over Thanksgiving break. Will she be okay for 5 days without me? Should I leave her with a handful of crickets and go? Or do I really need to pack her up and take her with me? Please advise!

If you can take the viv home for the holidays. You would never forgive yourself if the power failed and she froze to death. Also who would change the water during this time.

I would suggest taking the gecko home. If something happened where her heat source wasn't avaliable, no fresh water for five days and it's not good at all to throw a bunch of crickets in her cage with her. Crickets can do a lot of damage to reptiles. Any extra crickets that she doesn't eat can actually start eatting her! Well...you won't come back to a half eaten gecko or anything but she could have small open wounds from the crickets chewing on her.

Plus I think Frida would love to be with someone over the holidays. ;P

Feeding a gecko to my cat would be fun. He would play with it for hours first.
