Try filling it with hot water with 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda dissolved and leaving it overnight. If this doesn't work perhaps the insulation has absorbed these smells when it has been washed. In that case you may have to live with it or buy a new one.

I can't imagine bleach being harmful as long as you give it a good rinse after. Use about a capful or about a tablespoon and fill the thermos right up with hot water. Let it sit overnight, and don't forget to give it a very good rinse with cold water before using it again.

Try filling it with some HOT water and baking soda and letting that sit for a bit. Then refill it with HOT water and use some Alka Seltzer let it sit and then rinse it out. That should get rid of the smell.

The first thing to try would be washing and rinsing it with vinegar (white is fine).
If this doesn't help, I often use a mixture of chlorine bleach and dawn dish detergent to clean dishes with stains and odors. You may consider soaking or doing this on a weekly basis.
Just make sure you rinse it well and allow it to dry.

add cold water and a little bleach to to thermos.(a couple of tablespoons) let that sit overnight then wash out in morning. with dish soap.... make sure you use cold water with the bleach. it will remove the smell better than hot water.

Try putting baking soda and warm water in it and let it soak. If that doesn't work try fresh lemon juice and water leave both of them over night. Good Luck
