I've almost finished reading my first Richard Dawkins book (The God delusion - excellent) and wondered if anyone can suggest which other titles by him I should read next?

The Selfish Gene is the most obvious one to read. It was his first book, and is essentially a popular science classic. It literally caused a paradigm shift in the way scientists think about evolution.

His second book, the Blind Watchmaker would also be a good choice. "I want to persuade the reader, not just that the Darwinian world-view happens to be true, but that it is the only known theory that could, in principle, solve the mystery of our existence."

Enjoy!

The Blind Watchmaker, River out of Eden and the Devil's Chaplain. All excellent, as almost all his books are although I go a little lost in the Ancestor's Tale.

I would read the Selfish gene before any other. It's not only a good introduction to his own more radical ideas but also a more general introduction to the genetic and evolutionary mechanisms that underpin most modern biology.

I have only read "The Ancestor's Tale" which I thought was excellent if you enjoy biology especially zoology. It was excellent.
