I am a 5th grade teacher. Our class recently read Number the Stars about the German occupation during WWII and the extermination of Jews. Obviously this book was really toned down for their age level. Now these guys are really excited and want to learn more. I have assigned each of them a topic from WWII, Now we are trying to find some websties that they can use that are not too graphic.

I want them to learn more about what happened without it being over their heads or too grousem. I would appreciate your help.

The sites listed below are aimed toward teaching middle school students about WWII and the Holocaust. These contain links to other sites, so this should be an excellent place for you to start.

I'm happy that your students are excited about their studies. It is a "gruesome" topic, but important nonetheless.

In a yahoo or google (or other) search engine, you should type the names: Adolf Hitler, Franz Paul Stangl, Kurt Hubert Franz, Paul Johannes Groth, or Auschwitz SS staff, Treblinka SS staff, Sobibor SS staff (you can also type the words: Barry the dog, Sobibor & Treblinka). Then press the search button, and you will get a lot of information.
