If they did come to earth, and came steppin into town someplace, what woud/could we do? If they can get here, they could have a means to wipe us out?
Does this sound crazy? does to me kinda too, but who can say it can or cant happen?

Maybe they have been around for most of our history and has seen the violence that has accord and our weary of contacting what they might see as potentially aggressive beings. Or either that, they don't have the technology yet to be able to set down on an oxygen rich planet (which logically if they had the technology to travel across the universe they would most likely be more prepared to set down on Earth) But who is to say that they haven't but certain people wish not to tell us in fear of mass panic. Most certainly they would have the means to wipe us out but do they have the desire to do so? If they did, then they would have attacked by now.

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.
Why haven't we heard from them?
Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.
Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.
Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.
Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.
Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.
It is really impossible to know for sure.
The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

They have another way of communication so they do not appreciate saying "hello!"
Sounds like "Planet Wars". We are uncertain if they really exist so it would be more uncertain to think of what they really could be. Definitely nobody can tell what will happen but let us just be optimistic and stay strong. If any of them will visit one day, then let us wait for that day. Let us hope that they are friendly visitors who longed for our hospitality.
Supposing they are not friendly as what we wish and could have a means to wipe us out, so is there anything we can do to something we do not know? For sure earth people will do all means to protect human survival. If we will win against their powers, we will survive. If we loose, then its for the aliens to say "You have just been erased".
Truly sounds crazy but for the meantime I believe that some of our fellow men are more scarier than any alien you might think of.â¥

They may not be able to breathe our atmosphere yet. They're probably waiting for us to destroy all the toxic oxygen here first, and fill the air with a more desirable carbon monoxide, then they can take over.

Maybe they are waiting for the right moment to blow their cover. If they have greater intelligence than most humans they'll surely study us to know exactly what response can be expected by a greeting.

Beacause there aren't aliens flying around our planet!!!! We would have found them by now. Why would they want to wipe us out? We would just say hi there, where are you from???
