Modems are used to connect to computers by a telephone line.

If you are wanting to connect to computers by a wireless signal, you need a wireless card or adptor. If the computer you ordered is a laptop, it will probably have a wireless card. They are becoming standard in laptops.

If you ordered a desktop, it probably will NOT have a wireless card. Since a desktop does not normally move, there is no need to go wireless. Just run a cable to it. With a cable you get speeds up to 300mps. With wireless you get only 54mps at the best, and often far less then that.

If you need a wireless adaptor, you can get them at any electronics store or Walmart for around $40-50US. Recommend that you go with a USB adaptor that has a stand with a cable to hold it. Then you can move it around if needed for best signal. Plus move it from computer to computer if you want.

But for wireless connections, you do not need a modem.

You possible do not need a Modem at all but if you are connecting through a Wireless Connection then, you will need a Wireless Adapter or a Wireless Router to connect to the Access Point or simply your Host Computer.
