I avoid malls as much as possible. They are expensive, overrated, and there are way too many people everywhere. The mall is another word for claustrophobia. And most retail places (including the one I work for) have been pushing the holidays weeks before Halloween! So my Christmas wouldn't be ruined if a mall burned down...hell, I'd grab some marshmallows and sing Christmas Carols while making s'mores by the open fire!

the question would be better asked "if ALL malls burn down" because people still hussle to buy gifts to look good with others and forget the true meaning behind the holiday.. to count your blessings and thank god for the fortune you've had, and to spend time with family and friends while you still have them.. some people aren't so lucky. But i agree when you say that it's turned into a commercial gimmick.. many have lost their spirit along the way :(
..and to answer your question, no, it wouldn't be ruined :)
Happy Holidays everyone! *hugz*

Christmas wouldn't be ryuined, I'd find another way to get my gifts. As for whether it is a commercial holiday nowadays, it sure is, but I find that it is also a good occasion to get the whole family together, which is rather difficult the rest of the year. So I don't mind the conmnmercial aspect as long as it gives everybody a good excuse to spend time together.

Nope... If the big mall in our local area burned down I would help reclamate the land, and return the habitat to the endangered species it was taken from. Our local big mall sits right in the middle of very unique habitat that happens to the be the home to the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly.
I would feel bad though for all the people who would lose employment, especially being close to the holidays.

No, it would be the best Christmas ever. I'd laugh maniacally.... I HATE malls!
Christmas is more commercialized (is that even a real word?) but I still give my loved ones a couple of small gifts.

No it wouldn't.
I don't think I've been inside any mall a total of 5 times all year.
I HATE to shop!
I go in a store, get what I went in for and leave.

I would be happy as long as noone was hurt. I hate to shop. People need to remeber the true meaning of Christmas and it isn't presents.

Baby Jesus would have died of hypothermia because Bethlehem in late December is FREEZING COLD.
Think about it. A baby born in a manger while exposed to the wind, the snow, the elements --- doesn't stand a chance.
Jesus was born in May. We are celebrating at the wrong time of year.
