Well, I've been told it takes 21 days to change a habit. So you have to do the new habit consistantly for 21 days. If you miss a day, just pick up and keep going. There are times your head will just freak out and tell you to go back, but if you stick with it and don't get down on yourself, you can change. That's for stopping an old habit and replacing it with a new one. Apparently a new habit (without getting rid of an old one) only takes three days in a row. That's why it's so easy to, say, start drinking four cans of soda a day in three days, but to stop drinking soda and drink water it takes three weeks and feels really hard.

Avoid the "habit vacuum." Only a new habit can break an old habit. When I needed to quit smoking, I practiced juggling. Now I can juggle clubs, balls, rings, cigar boxes, even fire. I miss smoking, but I sure love juggling now.
Good luck.

Take up a new hobby, change your environment, think about how people are worse off than you - all these will change your thinking and possibly your habbits - even trying to attract the opposite sex will make u change habits.

I was talking to my psychologis friend about this. The conclusion of our discussion was to try to find some other action to substitue for the one you're trying to lose. You need some sort of trigger.
For example, if you are trying to give up snacking all the time, every time you start to reach for a snack, think about watering your plants or tidying up the room.
She does this by posthypnotic suggestion.

Think the effect it has on you and others.Logically let it go.But be moderate in giving up as it needs a good timing, too slow will make it stay too fast will have a rebounding effect.

I think they zip up the back,
then you just slip it off over your head, put another one on, and get someone to zip you up.
(it's a joke - That thing nuns wear - it's called a habit... get it? )
