Well you saw the elves and the riders from rohan. Have you noticed that all 3 episodes, there isn't any battle involves with the dwarves. Less Gimli of course.

In the appendix of the books, it talks about that. They had just finished a very long and bloody war against orcs in the north, and there were very few around. The Dwarves in Lonely Mtn (from the hobbit) were themselves being attacked in the war of the Ring

Dwarves in general or Gimli?
I was of the impression there were few dwarves at all, considering what had happened in Moria

Are you kidding? You need watch the movie again! He was with Aragorn on the rampart when the Orki punched a whole in the gate. He was with Legolas on the wall, he was in the water fighting when they blew a whole in the drain....
