Watching TV by Roger Waters fantastic song about the tianeman square massacre, sounds like a pop song but has so much depth and black humour, has to be heard really within the context of the whole album amused to death a fantastic album which just underlines how much of a genius the guy really is, its just a pity that he's looking for 185 bucks to see him in perth, thats about 100 bucks more than I'm willing to pay to see one act.

Older songs mostly, kind of a toss up between the two...
One Tin Soldier - Coven (Joan Baez)
Burning Bridges - Mike Curb Congregation (from the movie Kelly's Heroes)

ray charles ''you are so beautiful to me' - and it's a tear jerker
Billie Holiday ''strange fruit'' & many more by her
eva cassidy has too many of those to mention.
Others include:
Paul Simon, Delamitri, Sting, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dolly Parton & almost any classical artist you'd care to name have many of those.
but the one artist I know that has the most meaningful songs, of which I can't even decide between is Kelly Joe Phelps.
Everything he writes makes you think, but at the same time his music is so powerful... it's blues but at the same time it's completely different...
yeah. it's got to be him.
