5% means 5 divided by 100 = 1/20 or 0.05
so 5% of 75 is 0.05 x 75 = 3.75
or 1/20 x 75 = 75/20 = 3.75
answer £3.75

Hi Frankie!
Just multiply the value by 5/100. Which gives you 75*0.05 = 3.75.
Hope I've helped on something!

To find x% of any number (lets call this number 'y'), you need to divide y by 100 and then multiply by x (or multiply by x then divide by 100, or multiply y by (x/100), it doesn't really matter, but the first method gives you smaller, more manageable numbers!!)
...SO...
5% of 75...
x = 5
y = 75
...ANSWER...
(y/100)*x = (75/100) * 5
= 0.75*5
= £3.75

5 divided by 100, multiplied by 75.
Any time you have a sum to find the percentage of something, you put the percent over 100 and multiply by the number you are trying to find the percent of!
