Limewire itself doesnt infect your computer, however some of the files you download through it might, as limewire has no control over what people share. Be wary of .exe files and .zip or .rar files. These could all contain viruses put there by malicious users. In general try to download to one folder and scan each file with your antivirus before you open them. If you stick to downloading music or videos you should be fine.

Who said that?I have been using the Freeware Limewire for Years and has never fallen into such situations until you don't copy a virus from the LimeWire Software.

I,ve been running limewire for awhile now and it hasn"t messed with my computer.and yes there r virusus there in some files but where isn,t there.I haven,t recieved a bad virus for there yet.But with a good antivirus program u shouldn,t have to worry about it.OH plus I,ve never had to pay for the music I downloaded.

free limewire like a lot of free p2p (peer 2 peer) downloading programs use spyware programs to pay for the music you download it is these spyware programs that download other programs and that which will affect the perfromance of your pc along with causing pop-ups and other nasty surprises. only way i know to get rid of them is to pay for the programing or else do a system reboot, best to do a system reboot compleat format and then pay for the the pro version of limewire, or use antoher program like newshosting (about $15 a month for unlimited access)

Used Limewire for small files for ages without any problem at all,also Bearshare is good for smaller mp3 files but make sure you run a good spy ware remover.For larger files Bit torrent is the way to go.

It may not....!. But you have some antivirus and anntispam in your PC. I can give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...!You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at

My son downloads of limewire and our other computer crashed and I had to get a laptop,I won't let him touch this one,a friend computer also crashed with it I don't think you get anything for free without consequences.

i was down loading a prog to repair my o/exp last night from limewire and my viruses ava told me to stop and close pc i got the fright of my life was scared to turn on pc today but it seems ok so it is not worth it as it could cost you a new pc
