I generally only buy Dell or Gateway laptops. They are the best in dependability and value. I generally find that "sales" occur right before they release new models. Sure Christmas might drive prices down, but all vendors try to get the money out of you with addons or extended warranties.

I don't think holidays are always the best price times, before or after.

Back to School specials mid/late summer seem to have been historically the best times to buy.

Watch their web only specials, sometimes they have 1 or 2 day sales that are impossible to beat.

I know alot of people say wait for the sales but the market is more competitive before christmas so for things like that you'll get the best offers before hand. you could always buy on a credit card that protects against sales, ie they give you the difference should the price drop after you bought it. You would have to look into which companies offer this though.

Not by a significant amount, they are no less in demand at certain times of the year. Personally i wouldn't buy a laptop, since in a year or two they'll be twice the power and half the price, you can't do much to upgrade the laptops, you just throw them away.

genuinely worth it. in case you have the endurance to attend 2 or 3 years for a value drop, then anticipate it. there is not any value drop in 2007. The Wii is in such extreme call for that there is not any rationalization for Nintendo to do a value drop.

Price is often affected by competition and supply-demand, and rarely by seasonal factors. Usually, on computer technologies, it safe to say that you rather watch out for technological advances, e.g Dual-Core to Core 2 Duo to Quad-Core?, etc. This hugely affects pricing on current available models.
