I think it might be quicker to save the £950 Johnny. lol. You couldn't drive direct to Australia without taking ferries at some points and it would take aeons. Also, what about the price of petrol consumption and wear and tear on the car? You could take a boat, but again, this would take you about three weeks and is not at all cheap.

Pull in your resources - maybe even sell your car - and save the money for the air fare is my advice, and perhaps hire a car when you get there. Good luck in your quest.

Dude, it will cost you more than you pay for a normal air flight. Flying in the air is much faster than foot. Of course, you might have a flat tire, a blown engine or run out of gas and there are no gas stations near you. An airliner can accomplish a flight from England to Australia easily. And it has enough fuel to fly to America.

Sod British Airways and their facist banning of the cross. They have always been a little greedy and i'm sure You will certainly find a cheaper airline, but driving across the Oceans?

Unless they invented a teleportation device to allow you to drive up the road and through it to Australia then you are loking at months of driving, the cost of fuel, Hotels or B&B's to stay in on your journey, Ferry Fee's Plus god knows how many tyres you'll go through!

It would be cheaper to fly

In the 50's my mums family drove to Pakistan from Manchester and it took them six weeks! Bear in mind that the distance is about a third to Australia. She has such good memories of that trip, about 6 months of their lives in total. I would love to do a similar thing but the security situation would not allow it today. Shame really, it can be such a good adventure.

Dude, £950 ain't bad!

You could fly economy for £700+/- or business class for £1500+/-

You'll spend more than that in petrol. Try a google search!

1) Convert your car so it can run under water.
2) Plan a route that take in the huge number of underwater gas stations, hotels & restaurants
3) Take weeks off work for the time to drive.

Even being serious and taking you as meaning driving on land, and taking ferries the rest of the time, it will cost more in petrol, wear & tear on the car, food etc than a plane fare

I think it would work out about the same, but the adventures you'll have on the way, would make it worth it! You would have to be real careful though! some of the countries you pass through can be real dangerous! Have a good day!
