I live in Stevenage, and the journey is not one i would like to do that often. The time really does depend on the route you have decided to take, the time of day you are travelleing, and what day of the week you will travel.
If you decide to go A1, M25, M4 you will probably need 2-2.5 hrs travelling time.

1hour. A1, M25, M4, A33. Follow the signs. I'd allow and hour and a half if you're on a deadline. for a more detailed map and directions use the AA's web site.

It depends on the time of day - but on a good run just over 1 hour. However, this will take you on te M25 and can be a nightmare... so allow a lot more time.
