India has a much greater population than windies and lankans but they perform much better than Indians to be honest.

India is ahead of both those nations. If talking about such issues, a comparison between India and Pakistan would be more honest a reflection on the countries current status. As someone else has already stated, Pakistani cricketers, like those of Australia, England, New Zealand and the WI, often travel overseas to play during the off-season, whilst most Indians remain at home. This overseas experience helps players grow, and also means that if they attain test status they have encountered theconditions on tour.
In the NW of England we are very lucky to have one of the best league systems in the world, and such luminaries as the Waugh brothers played league cricket here when in their teens. At Lancashire we have also been fortunate enough to have had Clive Lloyd, Farouk Engineer, Wasim Akram and Muttiah Muralitharan.

I wouldn't call this an "A" grade team either, seeing that they have not chosen few players who could be quite helpful for the team. By the way Lion, I can hardly agree with your opinion. Our national team has barely scratched the surface of what they have capable of and is in a very unstable manner. You never know when they'll lose again. If they keep this performance up and giving young stars a chance we might have a chance to register our name as the best ODI team.

Because we have many pampered players & go only by the past performance no matter whether they performance presently. We do not want to give chance to others. Example look at the WI team u can find number of new faces, whereas in India, u will find the same old face, based on their past records.

India not behind the Srlianka and west indies india beat always SL when they play against them anywhere exept in lanka.

WestIndies going through its purple patches thats why they able to beat india 7-8 time quiet regularly one of the reason is that the reasont time they play against them on those pitches where stroke play was not easy.
Indain batsman most of the time deal in the boundries the one way is getting them out tha stop their boundries quiet regularly.
Once they geat pitches of their style they definetly beat the west indies because they have 6 stroke playing batsman almost heighst in ODI taking part country

Indian cricket team is not behind WI and SL.
Indian thrashed SL last time they played.
Yes, we lost WI in the ODI's but beat them in Test matches.
Even, today we are ranked ahead of WI and SL in both the forms of game.
Yes, we lost to WI in one days and consistently loosing to them for last 7-8 matches, because WI team itself is one of the most inconsistent team around. On their day they beat the best, but on other they could loose to one of the most downgraded team. They could loose a match from a winning position.(Eg : Malyasia Tri series, when they lost first match to Australia from a winning situation.) Their lies the answer, we believe in strategies and more so after Greg Chappel is around, but all strategies fail against an inconsitent team.

The answer is simple. Why does India have a population more than WI or SL? Simply because they pay more interest to a "sport" that is different from cricket. Or soccer. Or whatever is played on a ground.

Play it in a bedroom and see who excels.

my friend ranking doesnot depends on the population of the country.
but on the current performance of the team and individual player. having a bunch of talanted players is not enough. but they have utilise this talent to win matches. then only our team can the number one team in the world let alone be above srilanka and westindies.

Actually at present indian r low in confidence, its just they need a span of time 2 be consistent.
actually u need 2 blame the coach too, coz of shifting the order after every match..
but i think these cricketers r too much involved in more of ads n v c them play less of cricket..
Instead practicing on the cricket field u see them more on the ramp....
I THINK THEY NEED TO THINK ON IT NOW, ITS HIGH TIME.........................
